Imphal, January 13: The Governor of Manipur on Tuesday attended the 2026 North-East Seminar on the theme “Resurgent Manipur: Framework for Stability & Sustained Growth”, held at the City Convention Centre in Imphal. The seminar brought together policymakers, academicians, security experts, civil society representatives, and other stakeholders to discuss pathways for lasting peace, effective governance, and sustainable development in Manipur and the wider North-East region.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor highlighted Manipur's resilience in the face of recent challenges and reaffirmed confidence in the state's ability to emerge stronger through collective efforts. He said Manipur possesses a rich cultural heritage, immense human potential, and a strategic geographical location, making it an important gateway for regional connectivity and economic development.
The Governor noted that despite the difficulties experienced in recent times, the people of Manipur have demonstrated remarkable strength, determination, and unity. He emphasised that the state's journey towards stability and sustained growth depends on the combined efforts of the Government, security forces, civil society organisations, traditional institutions, and local communities working together towards a common goal.
Highlighting the importance of peace as the foundation of development, the Governor said that economic progress and social harmony are closely interconnected. He stressed that sustainable growth can only be achieved through inclusive governance, mutual trust, dialogue, and active participation from every section of society. Policies aimed at development, he said, must ensure that the benefits of progress reach all communities without discrimination.
The Governor also acknowledged the role of coordinated governance and security initiatives in restoring normalcy and public confidence. He said grassroots participation and community engagement remain essential in addressing local concerns and building resilient institutions capable of supporting long-term peace and prosperity.
Calling for continued cooperation among all stakeholders, the Governor urged government agencies, educational institutions, civil society organisations, and community leaders to strengthen partnerships for the state's future. He observed that forums such as the North-East Seminar provide valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, reflect on emerging challenges, and formulate practical strategies for strengthening governance and promoting inclusive development.
He further expressed hope that the discussions and recommendations emerging from the seminar would contribute to policy formulation and inspire collaborative action aimed at ensuring stability, economic progress, and social cohesion across Manipur and the North-East.
The seminar concluded with deliberations on various aspects of peacebuilding, institutional strengthening, infrastructure development, economic opportunities, and community participation, reaffirming a shared commitment to building a peaceful, resilient, and prosperous Manipur for future generations.
