Welcoming participants, the Deputy Commissioner said the growing influx of illegal immigrants and unchecked trading activities have become matters of serious concern for the district. He informed the gathering that the Mizoram Home Department has issued instructions to take necessary steps to address the situation.
Emphasising a coordinated approach, he said the issue requires joint efforts involving non-governmental organisations, Village Councils, the police, and security forces, noting that the implications could be long-term for both the district and the state. While acknowledging humanitarian considerations, he cautioned that delays in action could create more complex challenges in the future.

On issues related to trading and marketing, the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) was urged to extend full cooperation to ensure the preparation of a comprehensive and effective SOP.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Police Department, Assam Rifles (20th AR), Revenue Department, LADC, DCTO (LADC), CYLA, MJA Lawngtlai, Village Council Association, VCP, Indian Reserve Battalion (3rd IR Battalion), LWA, MHIP, LUP, and MUP, reflecting broad stakeholder participation in addressing the issue.
