Leaders of Kuki-Zo Council submitted
a memorandum to Union Minister Amit Shah through Deputy Commissioner,

In a statement, KID said the Governing Council had reaffirmed its political demand for a Separate Administration in the form of a Union Territory under the Constitution of India, citing what it described as prevailing realities and the collective sentiment among the Kuki-Zo people. The resolution also stated that the Kuki-Zo community would not participate in the formation of the Government of Manipur.
KID’s statement outlined grievances relating to historical marginalisation and the recent humanitarian impact of the Manipur crisis, including loss of lives and large-scale displacement. It argued that the developments had exposed what it termed the inability of the state apparatus to safeguard the lives, rights and dignity of minorities, and maintained that peaceful coexistence could be ensured only as neighbouring administrations.
Aligning itself with the Kuki-Zo Council, KID reiterated that the Kuki-Zo people would neither support nor legitimise the formation of a Manipur government led by majority Meitei MLAs. The organisation said any participation by Kuki-Zo MLAs in government formation would contradict the collective stand adopted by Kuki-Zo bodies.
The statement further asserted that the demand for a Union Territory with a legislature is rooted in what it described as survival, justice and the protection of land, rights and political future. KID cautioned that any deviation from the unified resolution would undermine what it termed the genuine aspirations of the Kuki-Zo people.
The statement was issued by Gary Thensei Touthang, Secretary (Information and Publicity), Kuki Inpi Delhi & NCR.
