Governor Recommissions ISBT Imphal, Launches District Transport Offices in Four Districts

Imphal, January 22: The Governor of Manipur on Tuesday recommissioned the Inter-State Bus Terminus, Imphal (ISBT) and formally launched District Transport Offices (DTOs) in four districts—Jiribam, Kakching, Noney and Pherzawl—marking a significant step toward strengthening public transport infrastructure and connectivity across Manipur.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor underscored the government’s continued commitment to public welfare through improved mobility and access to essential services. He said the recommissioning of ISBT Imphal and the establishment of district transport offices would streamline transport administration, enhance commuter convenience, and support balanced regional development.

The Governor appealed to citizens to use and maintain the newly recommissioned facilities responsibly, stressing that public infrastructure thrives with collective ownership and care. He noted that improved connectivity not only eases daily travel but also boosts economic activity and social integration across districts.

Officials said the initiatives are expected to decongest traffic, improve service delivery, and ensure transparent, technology-enabled transport operations at the district level.
