The project, developed at a cost of over ₹350 crore, is expected to generate around 141 million units of electricity annually. It will also help reduce nearly 1.15 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions each year, contributing substantially to Assam’s climate action goals.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister said the state government is committed to making Assam self-reliant in renewable energy. He added that similar solar power projects are currently under construction in Sonitpur and other districts as part of a broader strategy to strengthen green energy infrastructure.

Officials noted that with the commissioning of the Khudigaon project, Assam’s installed solar power capacity has reached about 680 MW. Several more projects are in the pipeline, aligning with the state’s target of achieving 2,000 MW of renewable energy capacity in the coming years.

Describing the project as a step towards “powering Assam’s green future,” the Chief Minister said the expansion of solar and other renewable sources would not only reduce dependence on fossil fuels but also enhance energy security and promote sustainable development across the state.

The Khudigaon solar project is expected to play a key role in meeting Assam’s growing power demand while reinforcing its transition towards a cleaner, low-carbon energy economy.
