Dibrugarh, January 29: In a landmark development for Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday presided over the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Assam Petrochemicals Limited (APL) and the Deendayal Port Authority for the establishment of an E-Methanol Project at Kandla Port.
The agreement marks a significant milestone in Assam’s development journey and reflects the State’s growing role in India’s clean energy transition. The proposed E-Methanol Project is expected to contribute to the promotion of green maritime fuels and sustainable industrial practices.![]() |

According to officials, the initiative aligns closely with India’s long-term climate goals, including the national vision of Net Zero 2070, while also strengthening Centre–State collaboration in the clean energy and maritime sectors.
