Agartala, Dec 10: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha reiterated the importance of strengthening democratic institutions to safeguard human rights while attending the International Human Rights Day observance organised by the Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC) at Prajna Bhavan, Agartala.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha emphasised that all four pillars of democracy - the Legislature, Executive, Judiciary and Media - must continue to grow stronger and more accountable to ensure the protection of individual rights and freedoms.
He highlighted the steadfast commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards safeguarding the rights of every citizen, noting that the Union Government’s policies demonstrate a consistent focus on justice, dignity, and equal opportunities for all.
“Our government remains deeply sensitive and dedicated to ensuring that every citizen receives justice and lives with dignity. Strengthening human rights is essential for building a progressive society,” he said.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude for being part of the occasion and reaffirmed the state’s resolve to strengthen mechanisms and institutions that uphold human rights in Tripura.
The event, attended by officials, legal experts, activists and members of civil society, focused on promoting awareness, accountability, and cooperation among stakeholders to ensure the continued protection of human rights across all sections of society.
