Shillong/Imphal, December 2: The National People’s Party (NPP) has appointed Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze as the new President of the NPP Manipur State Unit, a decision welcomed by party chief and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.
In an official statement shared on social media, Sangma congratulated Dr. Pfoze, expressing confidence that his leadership will enhance the party’s ability to serve the people of Manipur “with renewed confidence.” Dr. Pfoze, a respected political leader and former Member of Parliament, brings experience and stability to the state unit at a crucial time for the party’s growth in Manipur.
Sangma also acknowledged the presence of senior NPP leaders from Manipur who gathered in Shillong to mark the occasion. Among those present were:
• Shri Rameshwar M. Singh, MLA and Leader of the Legislative Party
• Shri Loken Singh, Chief Whip
• Shri Noorul Hasan, MLA and Working President, Manipur
• Shri Janghemlung Panmei, MLA and Working President, Manipur
Sangma emphasised the importance of teamwork within the Manipur unit, expressing hope that the leaders will work collectively to strengthen the mission and organisational presence of NPP in Manipur.
The appointment comes as the NPP seeks to consolidate its position in the Northeast and expand its influence through strategic leadership changes and strengthened grassroots engagement.
With Dr. Pfoze at the helm, party leaders believe the Manipur unit is well positioned to play a more decisive role in the state’s political landscape.
