Churachandpur, Dec 9: The Churachandpur District Administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S., conducted a comprehensive field inspection along National Highway 102B (NH-102B) to assess the progress of ongoing road construction works being executed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). The inspection focused on reviewing the pace of implementation and identifying measures to accelerate critical infrastructure projects in the district.
The inspection team included Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mualnuam, Thangboi Gangte, along with officials from various government departments and representatives of NHIDCL.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of multiple construction packages under the NH-102B project, which is considered a vital road corridor for improving connectivity, transportation, and economic development in the region. Officials inspected ongoing works, interacted with engineers and project authorities, and assessed challenges affecting the timely execution of the projects.
Expressing serious concern over the slow pace of work in Packages 4A and 4B, Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar directed NHIDCL officials to significantly expedite construction activities. He instructed the executing agency to undertake the works on a "war-footing" to prevent further delays and ensure that project timelines are met.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of making optimum use of Manipur's limited working season, noting that weather conditions often restrict the duration available for large-scale infrastructure construction. He said any delay during the current construction window could adversely affect project completion schedules and prolong inconvenience to commuters and local residents.
In addition to the delayed sections, the Deputy Commissioner also instructed NHIDCL officials to maintain steady progress and ensure the timely completion of Packages 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B. He stressed that all ongoing works should adhere to prescribed quality standards while being completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Officials noted that the improvement of NH-102B is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between Churachandpur and adjoining regions, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and support economic activities by improving access to markets, healthcare, education, and other essential services.
Following the field inspection, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a District Review Meeting at the Mualnuam Sub-Divisional Headquarters. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners, District Level Officers (DLOs), and representatives of NHIDCL, who presented updates on the progress of various developmental projects and departmental initiatives.
During the review, officials discussed ongoing infrastructure works, public service delivery, and challenges faced in implementing government schemes. Departments also presented reports highlighting key achievements and the status of projects under their respective jurisdictions.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need for stronger coordination among government departments, implementing agencies, and contractors to ensure timely execution of development projects. He called upon all stakeholders to work collaboratively to overcome bottlenecks and accelerate infrastructure development, reaffirming the district administration's commitment to improving connectivity and ensuring the efficient implementation of public projects across Churachandpur.
