Imphal/Churachandpur, Dec 10: The Assam Rifles carried out two major community-focused initiatives across Manipur today, strengthening its long-standing commitment to civic welfare and youth empowerment.
In T. Khongkhai village, Churachandpur, Assam Rifles personnel organised a Swachhata Abhiyan, engaging 50 students and 9 teachers from Conventional English School in a large-scale cleanliness drive.
Before the activity, participants were sensitised on hygiene practices, waste management, and the core principles of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The joint effort aimed to instill a sense of civic responsibility among schoolchildren while improving cleanliness in the village. Locals appreciated the initiative, noting its positive influence on youth and community awareness.
On the same day, a felicitation ceremony was held at Komlakhong, Imphal West, honouring seven young aspirants who successfully completed training for defence recruitment rallies.
The group included six candidates for Agniveer (General Duty) and one for the Indian Coast Guard.
The training programme, conducted under the guidance of Assam Rifles personnel, focused on fitness, discipline, and examination preparedness. Families and community members praised the effort, acknowledging the organisation’s role in shaping motivated and capable youth.
The dual initiatives underscore Assam Rifles’ ongoing efforts to promote civic cleanliness, youth development, and community engagement across Manipur. Officials reiterated that such activities help nurture responsible citizens and create pathways for young people seeking career opportunities in the armed forces.
Assam Rifles stated that similar programmes will continue to support local communities and encourage youth to pursue productive and disciplined futures.
