Government Takes Steps to Address RMSA 2016 Teachers’ Grievances

The first meeting, held on September 18 at the Secretariat, was chaired by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister & Home Commissioner, Abhijit Sinha. Officials from the School Education Department, Samagra Shiksha, Finance, Justice & Law, ANSTA, and representatives of the RMSA 2016 batch attended. The discussion focused on unresolved matters, including the non-implementation of the Guwahati High Court’s judgment on scale pay and constraints faced by the Government.

RMSA representatives raised concerns over low salaries, lack of job security, and delayed mainstreaming into the State cadre. In response, the Government proposed setting up a High-Level Committee with officials and stakeholders to study the demands and devise feasible solutions.

A follow-up meeting on September 23, convened by Commissioner & Secretary, School Education, Kevileno Angami, saw the RMSA 2016 batch presenting their Charter of Demands, which was accepted for review. It was decided that the High-Level Committee will include representatives from the School Education Department, Samagra Shiksha, Finance, Justice & Law, along with ANSTA and RMSA 2016 members.

Following these assurances, the RMSA 2016 representatives agreed to keep their agitation in abeyance while the Government undertakes necessary steps to address their concerns.
