Wazeho, Sept. 23: The Committee on Public Undertakings (COPU), chaired by Dr. Sukhato A. Sema, conducted a two-day study tour on 17–18 September 2025 to assess the status of the Mini Cement Plant (MCP) and the Decorative & Dimensional Stone Plant (DDSP) at Wazeho.
The inspection team included Dr. Neisatuo Mero, a Committee member, and Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, MLA of 20-Meluri A/C and Advisor for New & Renewable Energy, along with officials from the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
During the visit, the Committee learned that the 150 TPD Mini Cement Plant has been leased to M/S Ramung Enterprises for 30 years under an MoU signed on 12 November 2024. While repair and renovation of old machinery have been completed, trial production of cement is expected to be delayed due to adverse weather conditions. Officials highlighted that the local lime is among the finest in the North-East, capable of producing 43-grade quality cement.
The Committee observed the demonstration of cement manufacturing and was pleased with the fully functional operation of the DDSP, which produces interlocking bricks and hollow block bricks. Discussions also covered proposals for inland waterways, which could facilitate export of cement products to neighbouring countries, including Myanmar and other Southeast Asian markets.
Highlighting the importance of local infrastructure, the Committee emphasized the need for an Administration Office in Wazeho to streamline operations, generate employment, and support local businesses.
