Sikkim Governor Meets GOC 17th Mountain Division, Briefed on Operation Sindoor

Gangtok, Aug 6, 2025: Major General M. S. Rathore, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 17th Mountain Division, called on Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur at Raj Bhavan today to extend his greetings on the completion of the Governor’s first year in office.

During the meeting, Major General Rathore apprised the Governor of the successful execution of Operation Sindoor by the Indian Armed Forces. The operation, details of which were not disclosed for security reasons, was hailed as a demonstration of the forces’ preparedness and operational excellence.

Governor Mathur expressed his appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of the Indian Army, reaffirming his confidence in their role in safeguarding national security and fostering peace in the region. He also conveyed his best wishes to the personnel of the 17th Mountain Division for their continued service.

The meeting underscored the close coordination between the civil administration and the armed forces in Sikkim, which plays a crucial role in the state’s border security and disaster response readiness.
