IMPHAL, August 20, 2025: Security forces in Manipur have arrested several active cadres of different proscribed outfits in a series of operations carried out across Imphal East, Imphal West, and Thoubal districts on August 19 and 20.
On Wednesday, an active cadre of PREPAK, identified as Sarangthem Suresh Singh alias Chinglen alias Bungo (20) of Huikap Makha Leikai, Imphal East, was apprehended from the Sawombung area under Lamlai Police Station. A mobile phone was recovered from his possession.
The same day, three active cadres of RPF/PLA were arrested from Thoubal Kshetri Leikai under Thoubal Police Station. They were identified as Angom Premjit Singh alias Manaothoi (33) of Phayeng Ching Khunou, Ningthoujam Urirei Devi (28) of Moreh Ward No. 7, and Lourembam Madona Devi alias Moli (26) of Uripok.
Police said they were involved in extortion targeting government schools, colleges, and owners of brickfields and stone crushers in Thoubal district. Seized items included a Maruti Suzuki Swift car, three mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, a PAN card, an ATM card, a list of schools targeted for monetary demands, and ₹4,000 in cash.
Earlier, on August 19, security forces arrested Khoinaijam Robertson Singh alias Khelemba (24), an active cadre of KCP (MFL), from Taothong Khunou near Khudeiband Lampak under Lamsang Police Station, Imphal West. He was reportedly involved in extortion, abduction for ransom, and intimidation in cases related to crimes against women and loan recoveries.

In a separate operation the same day, two active cadres of KYKL were arrested. They were identified as Jiten Sana RK alias Nanao (41) of Pangei Lairam Mapal, apprehended near Minuthong, and Jimson Aheibam (30) of Awangkhunou Sabal Leikai, arrested from his residence. Both were allegedly engaged in extortion activities targeting spas, shops, and the general public in the valley areas.
The arrests mark a significant blow to multiple banned outfits operating in the state, officials said, adding that further investigations are underway.
