Aizawl, August 13, 2025: Lok Sabha MP Pu Richard Vanlalhmangaiha met with Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Director General Lt. General Raghu Srinivasan at the BRO Headquarters on August 12 to discuss key infrastructure projects underway in Mizoram and issues related to compensation for land acquired for road development works.
The meeting focused on the progress of several strategic road and bridge projects being implemented by the BRO across the state, as well as concerns raised by local residents and landowners affected by these initiatives. The MP highlighted the importance of ensuring that infrastructure development is carried out in a manner that balances public interest with the rights and welfare of communities whose lands have been acquired for the projects.
During the discussions, Richard Vanlalhmangaiha raised concerns regarding ongoing construction and maintenance activities undertaken by the BRO, including works under the PUSHPAK Project and the construction of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) bridges in various parts of Mizoram. He stressed the need for timely payment of compensation to landowners whose properties have been utilized for road widening, bridge construction, and other infrastructure works.
Responding to the concerns, Lt. General Raghu Srinivasan assured the MP that the BRO remains committed to addressing issues faced by affected residents. He informed the MP that an additional compensation amount of ₹82 crore would be released for land acquired in Lawngtlai, Siaha, and Champhai districts, particularly for areas affected by the Tipa–Laki–Lope–Lopu (LTTT) road project.
The Director General emphasized that the BRO is committed to completing strategic infrastructure projects efficiently while ensuring that affected landowners receive fair compensation in accordance with established procedures. He also reiterated the organisation’s commitment to maintaining close coordination with state authorities and local stakeholders during project implementation.

The meeting underscored the importance of improving road connectivity in Mizoram, especially in remote and border areas where infrastructure development plays a crucial role in economic growth, accessibility, and national security. Better roads and bridges are expected to enhance transportation, facilitate trade, improve access to essential services, and support regional development.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration between the Government of Mizoram and the Border Roads Organisation. The discussions concluded with a shared understanding that infrastructure development, timely compensation, and community welfare must go hand in hand to ensure the successful implementation of strategic projects across the state.
