CM Lalduhoma, NHDC MD Discuss Plans to Boost Mizoram’s Handloom Sector

Aizawl, Aug 6, 2025: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma met with National Handloom Development Corporation Limited (NHDC) Managing Director Commodore Rajiv Ashok (Retd) at Mizoram House, New Delhi, today to discuss strategies for advancing the state’s handloom industry.

The meeting focused on several key initiatives, including:

1. Setting up a yarn warehouse in Mizoram.

2. Increasing the use of local handloom products in government offices and important institutions, alongside upgrading production with modern electronic Jacquard looms to improve quality and variety.

3. Enhancing the skills of weavers and promoting collaboration within the state.

4. Developing comprehensive plans for NHDC experts to provide greater technical and developmental support to Mizoram.

5. Expanding access to yarn produced from mulberry in the state.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma was accompanied by Pi R. Lalrodingi, OSD to CM, and Pu Lalrinawma Khiangte, PS to CM.

The discussions are expected to pave the way for increased productivity, improved market reach, and sustainable growth in Mizoram’s traditional handloom sector.
