Assam CM Reviews Preparations for PM Modi and HM Amit Shah’s Visit; Major Inaugurations Scheduled

GUWAHATI, Aug 21: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting at the State Guest House in Koinadhora to assess preparations for the upcoming visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during which several landmark projects and public events are scheduled across the state.

Senior government officials attended the meeting, where the Chief Minister reviewed security arrangements, logistics, protocol, traffic management, and venue preparedness to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the high-profile visits. He directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination and complete preparations well in advance.

According to the state government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the country's first bio-refinery at Numaligarh, a project expected to boost sustainable energy production and strengthen Assam's position in the biofuel sector. During his visit, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Guwahati Ring Road from Mangaldoi, a major infrastructure project aimed at improving regional connectivity and easing traffic congestion around the state capital.

In addition, PM Modi will inaugurate the Darrang Medical College, enhancing healthcare services in the region, and dedicate the Narengi–Kuruwa Bridge to the public, providing improved connectivity across the Brahmaputra. He will also attend the inaugural ceremony of the birth centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, paying tribute to the legendary musician, poet, and cultural icon of Assam.

The Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit on August 29. Shah is scheduled to inaugurate the newly constructed Raj Bhavan in Guwahati, address a Panchayat Sammelan, and participate in the birth centenary celebrations of former Assam Chief Minister Golap Borbora.

Besides reviewing preparations for these events, Sarma assessed plans for the state government's upcoming "Sewa Saptah" programme, which will be observed across Assam through a series of public welfare and community outreach initiatives. He instructed officials to ensure the programmes are conducted efficiently, reflecting the government's commitment to development, public service, and effective governance.
