Shillong, July 30, 2026: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Meghalaya, has announced the successful completion of the house-to-house enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026, achieving 100 percent coverage of the state's electorate.

According to an official press note issued on Thursday, the exercise marks a significant milestone in the preparation of a clean, accurate, and inclusive Electoral Roll for Meghalaya. The Election Department stated that all 23,49,645 electors across the state have been covered during the enumeration drive, with an equal number of Enumeration Forms successfully distributed and digitized.
The digitized data reveals that 7,75,337 electors, accounting for 33 percent of the electorate, have been mapped under the 'Self' category. Their electoral records have been successfully linked with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2005 database.
In addition, 11,69,670 electors, representing 49.78 percent of the electorate, have been mapped as 'Progeny', with their records linked to those of their parents or grandparents available in the 2005 electoral database.
The Election Department also identified 2,24,234 electors, or 9.54 percent of the total electorate, under the 'No Mapping' category. These are cases where the records could not be linked to the 2005 SIR database. Officials clarified that these cases are not being removed from the electoral roll but will undergo detailed verification during the Notice Phase, which is scheduled from August 5 to October 3, 2026.
During this period, electors whose records require verification will be given an opportunity to submit supporting documents, furnish additional information, and file claims or objections in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, and the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of Indi e successful completion of the enumeration phase as a testament to the coordinated efforts of the entire election machinery. It reaffirmed the department's commitment to ensuring a transparent, accurate, and inclusive electoral roll, thereby strengthening the democratic process in Meghalaya.
