SHILLONG, June 4: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilisers Jagat Prakash Nadda on Thursday inaugurated the 120-bed Advanced Regional Health Institute (ARHI) Hospital at Jorabat, Meghalaya, marking a significant addition to healthcare infrastructure in the Northeast.

The state-of-the-art hospital, established under Far East Wellness Pvt. Ltd., aims to provide affordable and high-quality healthcare services while strengthening access to advanced medical treatment for people across Meghalaya and the wider Northeastern region.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister Wailadmiki Shylla, Cabinet Minister Sosthenes Sohtun, Assam Minister Rameswar Teli, ARHI Hospital Chairman and Meghalaya MLA A. L. Hek, Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mahamaya Prasad Singh, senior government officials, healthcare professionals and members of the public.
Addressing the gathering, Nadda described the establishment of the hospital as a landmark achievement for the region and credited the rapid development of healthcare infrastructure in the Northeast to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sustained efforts by the Central Government to improve public services in the region.
“It is a matter of great happiness for me to be part of the inauguration ceremony of ARHI Hospital. Establishing a modern super-specialty hospital in a hilly state like Meghalaya is a visionary achievement and a significant step towards strengthening healthcare delivery in the region,” Nadda said.
He noted that the facility is equipped with advanced healthcare technologies and specialised services, including oncology care, PET-CT imaging, critical care units, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), advanced diagnostic systems and six modular operation theatres.
According to hospital authorities, ARHI Hospital has been designed to offer comprehensive healthcare services through modern diagnostic facilities, advanced operating theatres, emergency and trauma care services, and specialised treatment provided by experienced doctors and trained medical personnel.
Officials said the institution aims to emerge as a major medical hub for the Northeast by reducing the need for patients to travel outside the region for advanced treatment and specialised care.

Speaking on the occasion, dignitaries highlighted the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the Northeast and welcomed the establishment of a facility capable of delivering high-quality medical services closer to people’s homes.
The inauguration programme witnessed participation from government representatives, healthcare experts, entrepreneurs, social organisations and local residents, reflecting broad public interest in the project.
With the launch of ARHI Hospital, Meghalaya has added a major healthcare institution expected to improve access to specialised treatment, generate employment opportunities and contribute to the overall development of the region’s healthcare ecosystem.
