The flag-off ceremony was held at the Directorate of Health Services, Lamphel, Imphal, where the Chief Minister was welcomed by Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Health & Family Welfare) Sumant Singh.

The deployment of the mobile medical units is aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery in remote tribal and hill areas where access to quality medical facilities remains a challenge. The initiative forms part of the Government of Manipur's broader commitment to ensuring equitable healthcare services for all sections of society, particularly those living in geographically difficult regions.

The 13 MMUs will provide a comprehensive range of healthcare services directly at the doorstep of residents. These include general outpatient consultations, basic diagnostic services, distribution of essential medicines, maternal and child healthcare, oral healthcare services, health education and awareness programmes, as well as referral services for patients requiring advanced treatment.

The units will also play a crucial role in screening and early detection of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and hypertension, which have become major public health concerns across the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Khemchand Singh said the mobile medical units would significantly enhance healthcare accessibility in the state's hill districts and ensure that essential medical services reach even the most remote villages. He stated that the initiative reflects the government's unwavering commitment to improving public health outcomes and building a healthier and disease-free Manipur.
