Ukhrul, April 24: Amid escalating tensions in the hill districts of Manipur, a Naga Village Guard (NVG) member was killed in an ambush early Friday near Sinakeithei village in Ukhrul district, according to a statement issued by the Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL).

The deceased has been identified as Horshokmi Jamang (29), son of Lungshim Jamang from Chatric Khullen village in Kamjong district.
In a press communiqué dated April 24, the TNL alleged that NVG personnel stationed near Sirarakhong had gone out on patrol between Sirarakhong and Sinakeithei when they were ambushed by armed Kuki cadres under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) along with other alleged Kuki militant groups.
The organisation claimed that Jamang was killed on the spot during the attack.

The TNL also stated that Jamang “laid down his life defending his rightful land,” and described his death as a sacrifice that would not be in vain.
The Working Committee expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the bereaved family, praising Jamang for his bravery and ultimate sacrifice.
