The operation was jointly carried out by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police at Khuakhual, a remote area in the district, based on specific intelligence inputs.
During the operation, security personnel intercepted a four-wheeler and a two-wheeler. A thorough search led to the recovery of 374 soap cases containing heroin, weighing approximately 4.267 kg. Officials also seized two wireless communication sets allegedly used by traffickers to coordinate the movement of the contraband.

Two individuals from Churachandpur district were arrested in connection with the case. Preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment originated from Haichin in Myanmar and was being transported towards Churachandpur, indicating links to a larger cross-border drug trafficking network.
Officials said the NCB has intensified operations across the Northeast, particularly along the India–Myanmar border, to dismantle organised drug syndicates. Authorities noted that drugs worth ₹335 crore were seized in Manipur in 2025, while seizures worth ₹75 crore have already been recorded in 2026 so far.
The crackdown is part of the government’s broader effort to make Manipur a drug-free state through coordinated intelligence-based operations and strict enforcement. Further investigations are underway to trace the network and identify other individuals involved.
