Meghalaya CM Conrad K. Sangma Honoured at CBCI National Awards 2026

Bengaluru, February 9: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has been honoured at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) National Awards 2026, held at St John’s Medical College, in recognition of his contributions to leadership, social service and nation-building.

Expressing gratitude after receiving the award, Sangma said he was deeply humbled by the honour, which celebrates distinguished Catholics for their service in mission, faith, education, innovation and public life. He noted that while human effort has its limits, his work has been guided by faith, wisdom and courage drawn from divine grace.

“There are still miles to go, but with prayer and purpose, all things are possible,” the Chief Minister said, reaffirming his commitment to public service and inclusive development.

Sangma thanked the CBCI for its leadership and continued efforts to make a meaningful difference in society. He also expressed special appreciation to senior Church leaders, including Cardinal Poola Anthony, Metropolitan Archbishop of Hyderabad and President of the CBCI; Most Reverend Andrews Thazhath, Metropolitan Archbishop of Thrissur and outgoing CBCI President; Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao; Mar Baselios Cardinal Cleemis; George Cardinal Koovakad; and Major Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil, for their encouragement, prayers and support.

The CBCI National Awards recognise individuals who have made significant contributions to society while remaining rooted in faith and service. Sangma said the recognition would further inspire him to work for the welfare of people and to uphold values of compassion, leadership and nation-building.
