Imphal, February 8: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Sunday reaffirmed his government's commitment to restoring peace, stability, and normalcy in the state, stating that his administration remains determined to overcome the challenges faced by the people and work towards rebuilding public confidence after a prolonged period of unrest.

The Chief Minister began the day by offering prayers at Ima Keithel Lairembi at the historic Khwairamband Market (Ima Keithel) in Imphal, seeking divine blessings to successfully fulfil the aspirations of the people of Manipur. The visit reflected his government's emphasis on beginning its tenure with a message of hope, unity, and reconciliation.
Speaking on the occasion, Khemchand said the trust and confidence placed in him by the people would continue to guide his efforts in serving the state with sincerity and dedication. He stressed that restoring peace remains the foremost priority of the new government and reiterated his resolve to create an environment where people from all communities can live together in harmony, mutual respect, and security.
The Chief Minister observed that lasting peace and inclusive development are closely linked and emphasised that the government would work to ensure that every section of society benefits from development initiatives while promoting dialogue and understanding among communities.
Following the prayer visit, Khemchand carried out an on-site inspection of the ongoing road construction works at Thangal Bazaar, one of Imphal's busiest commercial areas. He was accompanied by MLAs Kh. Joykishan Singh and S. Nishikanta Singh, along with officials concerned.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress and quality of the construction work and instructed officials to ensure that the project meets the required standards. Discussions also focused on improving the overall appearance of the commercial area through beautification initiatives, better traffic management, enhanced cleanliness, and improved public convenience.
The inspection formed part of the government's efforts to modernise urban infrastructure and create cleaner, more accessible public spaces for residents, traders, and visitors.
Khemchand later visited the Nambul River bank, where he reviewed proposals for strengthening riverbank protection and preventing erosion. Officials briefed him on plans to undertake comprehensive beautification measures aimed at improving the riverfront while addressing environmental concerns and enhancing the city's landscape.
The Chief Minister also inspected Waisel Maril, where discussions centred on proposed infrastructure improvements, environmental conservation, and urban renewal projects designed to improve civic amenities and promote sustainable development.
Reiterating his government's priorities, Khemchand said that peace restoration, infrastructure development, and public welfare would remain at the centre of the administration's agenda. He emphasised that the government is committed to accelerating development projects while simultaneously working to restore normalcy and strengthen public confidence across Manipur.
The Chief Minister expressed optimism that with collective efforts from the government, civil society, and the people, Manipur would gradually overcome its challenges and move towards a future marked by peace, stability, inclusive growth, and sustainable development.
