Imphal/New Delhi, February 17: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the empanelment of 13 IPS officers for appointment to the rank of Inspector General (IG) or equivalent at the Centre.

Among those empanelled is 2003-batch Manipur cadre officer H. Thanghaulien Gangte, popularly known as Jimmy Gangte, who was cleared under the Second Review category. The son of Prof (L) Suonkholal Gangte, he is the youngest IPS officer from Manipur, having cleared the civil services examination at the age of 23, and was earlier promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG).

According to the order issued by the Police-I Division (IPS-IV Section) of the Ministry of Home Affairs from Kartavya Bhavan, the 13 officers empanelled include Manoj Kaushik of the Jharkhand cadre; Dumbere Milind Mahadeo of the AGMUT cadre; S Premalatha of the Bihar cadre; RV Asari of the Gujarat cadre; Chandra Kishore Mina of the Maharashtra cadre; B Sumathi of the Telangana cadre; Akash Kulhary and Manoj Kumar of the Uttar Pradesh cadre; Akhilesh Kumar Singh of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre; Ashok Kumar of the Gujarat cadre; H. Thanghaulien Gangte of the Manipur cadre; Manoj Tiwari of the Sikkim cadre; and Dhruv Gupta of the Chhattisgarh cadre.
