Guwahati, February 7: Taking forward the vision of an Atmanirbhar Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday ceremonially distributed the first instalment of financial assistance under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan (CMAAA) 2.0 to 5,572 young entrepreneurs from Kamrup and Kamrup (Metro) districts.

The distribution programme was held at the Jyoti-Bishnu International Auditorium, where the Chief Minister released over ₹56 crore to support youth-led enterprises across various sectors. The initiative aims to enable young people to start and scale their own ventures, thereby generating employment and contributing to economic growth in the state.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Chief Minister said the Assam government remains committed to empowering the youth by providing financial support, mentorship and an enabling ecosystem for entrepreneurship. He noted that CMAAA 2.0 is a key pillar in transforming job seekers into job creators and strengthening the state’s grassroots economy.

The government has set an ambitious target of empowering nearly 10 lakh youths in the coming years under the Atmanirbhar Assam initiative. Beneficiaries expressed optimism that the financial assistance would help them expand their businesses and create new employment opportunities.
The event marked another significant step by the Government of Assam towards inclusive development and sustainable economic growth driven by the state’s young entrepreneurs.
