Itanagar, February 4: The 5th Session of the 8th Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh commenced on Tuesday with an address by Governor Lt. Gen. K. T. Parnaik (Retd), who outlined the state government's vision for inclusive growth, environmental sustainability, and long-term development.
Addressing the House at the opening of the session, the Governor reaffirmed the government's commitment to building a prosperous and progressive Arunachal Pradesh while ensuring that development remains balanced and environmentally responsible. He highlighted the state's development roadmap, which is guided by the government's Panch Pratigya framework.
The five-point vision focuses on empowering the youth, strengthening livelihoods, protecting the environment, harnessing the potential of green energy, and promoting responsible tourism. According to the Governor, these priorities are aimed at creating opportunities for economic growth while preserving the state's rich natural and cultural heritage.
Lt. Gen. Parnaik emphasized that environmental conservation must remain a key consideration in all development initiatives, particularly in a state like Arunachal Pradesh, which is known for its rich biodiversity and ecological significance. He noted that sustainable development requires a careful balance between infrastructure growth and the protection of natural resources.
The Governor also stressed the importance of generating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities. He said that initiatives in sectors such as tourism, renewable energy, agriculture, and entrepreneurship can contribute significantly to economic progress while ensuring environmental safeguards for future generations.

Calling upon all Members of the Legislative Assembly to work together beyond political differences, the Governor urged collective efforts to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Arunachal Pradesh. He emphasized the need for cooperation, unity, and shared responsibility in addressing the challenges facing the state and achieving its development goals.
Furthermore, he encouraged legislators to contribute meaningfully toward the national vision of Viksit Bharat by supporting policies and initiatives that promote inclusive growth, innovation, and sustainable progress.
The Governor’s address set the tone for the Assembly session, underscoring the government's focus on unity, good governance, environmental stewardship, and people-centric development as key priorities for Arunachal Pradesh in the years ahead.
