Agartala, February 1: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday welcomed 153 voters from various political parties into the Bharatiya Janata Party at a joining programme held at Burakha, asserting that growing public support reflects confidence in the BJP’s agenda of development, good governance, and inclusive welfare.
Addressing a large gathering of indigenous people at the Burakha market during a joining rally for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, the Chief Minister set a target of winning all 28 seats. He said the indigenous community has now realised that true and all-round development is possible only with a decisive mandate for the BJP.
Alleging that janajati people were neglected under previous regimes, the Chief Minister said unrest and violence had severely hampered development in the past. Referring to incidents during the CPI(M) tenure, he claimed that many indigenous people were killed in Mandwi and stressed that peace is a prerequisite for development. “If peace is not there, development is not possible,” he said.
Saha stated that the law and order situation in Tripura has improved significantly in recent years, claiming that the state has recorded its lowest crime rate in the past two decades. He cited NITI Aayog assessments that have placed Tripura among the frontrunner states, attributing the change to policies pursued by BJP governments at both the Centre and the state under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Highlighting the importance of coordination between the state government and the autonomous council, the Chief Minister said development of the TTAADC is not possible without the Tripura government’s support. He added that investors require the consent and confidence of the state administration before investing in ADC areas.
The Chief Minister further noted that over 40 per cent of the state budget for 2025–26 has been allocated to the ADC. Urging voters to support BJP candidates, he said a clean sweep in all 28 seats would ensure faster development and a better future for the next generation.
