According to an official notification issued by the Office of the Director General of Police (DGP), the decision was taken after consultation with and approval from the Government of Nagaland. The announcement follows a series of recruitment advertisements and addendums issued by the department between September 2025 and January 2026 for the large-scale recruitment drive.

The recruitment process for the 1,176 Constable (GD) vacancies has generated significant interest among aspiring candidates from various districts of Nagaland. Conducting the Oral Interview/Viva-Voce at the district level is expected to reduce the burden of travel and related expenses for applicants, while also ensuring smoother administrative coordination and greater participation.

The notification stated that detailed information regarding interview schedules, venues, reporting times, and other necessary arrangements will be communicated separately by the Departmental Recruitment Board. These details will be published through local newspapers, the official Nagaland Police website, and the police recruitment portal to ensure that candidates receive timely updates.

Candidates have been advised to regularly monitor these official platforms and remain alert for further announcements. The department also urged applicants to contact their respective district recruitment helplines in case of any doubts, queries, or clarification regarding the interview process.

The notification was issued by Videlalie Zashumo, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Administration) and Chairman of the Departmental Recruitment Board, Nagaland Police, who reaffirmed the department's commitment to conducting a fair, transparent, and merit-based recruitment process.

Officials said the district-level arrangement reflects the department's effort to make the recruitment exercise more candidate-friendly while ensuring efficient management of a large number of applicants. The decentralised approach is also expected to facilitate better coordination between district authorities and recruitment teams, helping to streamline the interview process.

The recruitment of 1,176 Constables is one of the largest police recruitment drives undertaken in Nagaland in recent years and is expected to strengthen the state's law enforcement capabilities. Once completed, the recruitment will help address manpower requirements within the police force and enhance its ability to maintain law and order, improve public safety, and deliver effective policing services across the state.

The Nagaland Police has urged all eligible candidates to stay informed through official channels and prepare for the upcoming interview phase as the recruitment process moves towards its final stages.
