Imphal, January 28: The Governor of Manipur on Wednesday inaugurated the 7th Manipur Women’s International Polo Tournament 2026 at the historic Mapal Kangjeibung, marking a celebration of women’s sporting excellence and Manipur’s rich polo heritage.
The opening ceremony witnessed vibrant international participation and thrilling on-field action, drawing players and spectators from India and abroad. The tournament showcases high-energy matches while highlighting the grace, strength, and skill of women polo players competing on the legendary turf widely regarded as the birthplace of modern polo.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted that the tournament not only promotes women’s participation in international sports but also honours the enduring legacy of the iconic Manipur Pony, an integral part of the State’s cultural and sporting identity.
