Khliehriat, January 19, 2026: A new futsal football ground was inaugurated at Dkhiah East Village by Kyrmen Shylla, MLA 6 - Khliehriat Constituency, East Jaintia Hills marking a significant boost to sports infrastructure in the East Jaintia Hills District. The project has been implemented under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Scheme for the financial year 2025–2026.

The inauguration programme was attended by Manish Kumar, IAS, SDO (Sadar), East Jaintia Hills District, who graced the occasion as Guest of Honour on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner. Also present were Krison Langstang, MDC of 26–Sumer Constituency; Violet Lyngdoh, MDC of 23–Rymbai Khliehriat Constituency; and S. Rapsang, District Sports Officer, East Jaintia Hills District.
Strong community participation was evident with the presence of local shnong representatives, including Predalin Nongtdu, Waheh Shnong, Rafael Rabon, Secretary Shnong, Firsterwell Nongtdu, Secretary of Dkhiah East SC, and Marchial Nongtdu, Chairman of Dkhiah East SC.
Speaking on the occasion, Kyrmen Shylla said the establishment of the futsal football ground is an important step towards promoting sports, discipline, teamwork, and healthy engagement among the youth of Dkhiah East and neighbouring areas. He подчеркed that such facilities play a crucial role in nurturing local sporting talent while providing positive avenues for physical and social development.
He expressed appreciation to all departments, officials, and community members involved in making the project a reality under the DMF Scheme, and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at the holistic development of East Jaintia Hills District and the wider Jaintia Hills region.
