Sepahijala, Dec 9: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Tuesday described the day as a “historic moment” for Sepahijala district as he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 18 major development projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure, healthcare, education and administrative services across the district.
Addressing a large gathering during the programme, the Chief Minister said the projects mark the beginning of a new phase of development for Sepahijala and reflect the state government's commitment to ensuring balanced and inclusive growth in every region of Tripura. He stated that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state has witnessed accelerated progress in multiple sectors, and Sepahijala is now emerging as an important beneficiary of this development drive.
“Today is a historic day for Sepahijala district. These projects will not only improve infrastructure and public services but will also create new opportunities for the people and contribute to the overall development of the region,” Dr. Saha said.
One of the key projects inaugurated was the newly constructed Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s (SDM) Office at Sonamura, which is expected to enhance administrative efficiency and make government services more accessible to citizens. The Chief Minister noted that improved administrative infrastructure is essential for ensuring timely delivery of public services and strengthening governance at the grassroots level.
The package of 18 projects includes initiatives related to healthcare facilities, educational infrastructure, public administration, connectivity and other developmental sectors. Officials said these projects are designed to improve the quality of life of residents and address the growing needs of the district’s population.
Dr. Saha also highlighted the transformation that Sepahijala has undergone in recent years. He pointed out that the district has made significant progress in addressing long-standing social challenges such as ganja cultivation, drug trafficking and child marriage. According to him, concerted efforts by government agencies, law enforcement authorities and community stakeholders have contributed to reducing these social issues and creating a more conducive environment for development.
“Sepahijala is gradually freeing itself from problems that once hindered its progress. With collective efforts, the district is now moving forward on the path of prosperity and development,” he said.
The Chief Minister stressed that the government's vision of ‘Viksit Tripura’ can only be achieved through sustained investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare and social welfare. He said the projects launched in Sepahijala are aligned with this broader vision and are expected to deliver long-term benefits to the district's residents.
Dr. Saha also emphasized the importance of community participation in the development process. He urged local residents, public representatives and government officials to work together to ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of the projects.
The event was attended by ministers, legislators, district officials, community leaders and local residents. The Chief Minister expressed appreciation to all stakeholders involved in planning and executing the projects, noting that development is a collective effort requiring cooperation between government agencies and the public.
Officials stated that the newly inaugurated and proposed projects will contribute significantly to improving healthcare access, educational opportunities and administrative efficiency while supporting economic and social development in the district. As work progresses, Sepahijala is expected to witness further infrastructure expansion and enhanced public services, reinforcing its role in Tripura’s ongoing journey toward sustainable and inclusive growth.
