Itanagar, December 2: Arunachal Pradesh’s taekwondo sensation Rupa Bayor has added another international accolade to her growing list of achievements by securing a bronze medal at the prestigious World Taekwondo President Cup Europe (WT G3) held in Innsbruck, Austria, from November 29 to 30. The tournament, organised by the Austrian Taekwondo Federation, attracted 48 elite athletes from several countries, making it one of the most competitive events on the international taekwondo calendar.
Bayor’s impressive performance against some of the world’s top poomsae athletes further cemented her reputation as one of India’s leading taekwondo stars. Her bronze medal finish is a significant milestone in her career and highlights her consistency on the international stage.
The latest achievement comes on the heels of an outstanding year for the Arunachal athlete. Earlier in 2025, Bayor clinched the gold medal in the Recognized Individual Poomsae Under-30 category at the 4th Senior National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, reaffirming her dominance at the national level.
Her continued success has been reflected in the latest World Taekwondo rankings. Bayor has now climbed to World Rank 9 in the Poomsae category, securing a place among the world’s top 10 athletes. Her rise has been remarkable, progressing from 123rd position in 2021 to 42nd in 2022, 12th in 2023, and now breaking into the elite top tier. She is also currently ranked No. 1 in Asia in her category, an achievement that underscores her growing influence in the sport.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Bayor on her success, praising her dedication, discipline and relentless pursuit of excellence. In a message shared on social media, he noted that her achievements continue to bring pride to both Arunachal Pradesh and the nation.
