The festival featured a wide range of activities designed to engage young readers and celebrate the joy of reading. Various interactive book promotion events, competitions, and creative showcases were organised, including painting contests for children, dedicated games and activity zones, and a special cosplay event, where participants portrayed their favourite book characters with enthusiasm.

A diverse collection of books was made available for purchase, and MYC Book Club members received special discounts, with new memberships open to all interested readers.

One of the major highlights of the festival was the Meet the Author session, where prominent Mizo writers - including Lalhruaitluanga Chawngte, F. Vanlalrochana, Dr. Hannah Lalhlanpuii, and Ruth Khawlhring - interacted with attendees. Readers warmly expressed their appreciation as the authors shared insights into their writing journeys.

Speaking at the event, MYC Chairman Malsawmzuala Ralte emphasised the importance of reading in personal development.

“Reading shapes a person’s character. Even in times of difficulty, reading helps build resilience and deepens understanding. A habit of reading produces informed, capable citizens,” he said, urging Mizo youth to cultivate a consistent reading habit.

The Read Fest drew significant participation not only from local readers but also from individuals from other states and communities, reflecting its growing appeal and cultural value. Attendees expressed appreciation for MYC’s initiative in creating a lively platform that encourages a renewed love for literature.

The MYC Read Fest 2025 stands out as a meaningful step towards strengthening Mizoram’s literary environment and inspiring young people to read more and read widely.
