Imphal, December 2, 2025: Leishangthem Susindro Meitei (Yaima), MLA of Khurai Assembly Constituency, has formally expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Civil Aviation for improving flight connectivity to Manipur, while also urging further action to rationalise airfares on key routes.
In a letter addressed to Shri Samir Kumar Sinha, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the MLA appreciated the Ministry’s prompt response to his earlier request dated November 3, 2025, regarding the need to strengthen air connectivity between Imphal and major regional hubs.
Susindro Meitei commended the Ministry’s proactive step of introducing an additional Imphal–Guwahati–Delhi flight at 17:25 IST, along with an increase in aircraft capacity from 180 to 232 seats. He described the move as a significant boost to regional accessibility, economic activity, and healthcare travel, while also supporting students and business travellers from Manipur and across the Northeast.
“This step will greatly benefit the people of Manipur by reducing travel constraints, especially during peak academic, medical, and tourism seasons,” the MLA noted, extending his appreciation on behalf of his constituency and the state.
While welcoming the development, he also urged the Centre to regulate and rationalise airfares for the Imphal–Guwahati sector, recommending that ticket prices remain affordable and preferably below ₹7,000 during normal travel periods. A stable fare structure, he said, would encourage more travellers and strengthen regional connectivity under the UDAN initiative.
Susindro Meitei concluded his letter by thanking the Ministry for its continued efforts and expressed hope for further enhancements in civil aviation facilities for the Northeastern region.
