Sikkim to Host 24th Mr. Sikkim & 7th Physique Championship with Record Prize Pool

GANGTOK, August 21, 2025: The Sikkim State Bodybuilding Association (SSBBA) is set to organize the 24th Mr. Sikkim & 7th Open Men’s and Women’s Physique Championship 2025 on August 23 at Manan Kendra, Gangtok, with organizers promising the biggest prize pool ever offered in a bodybuilding event in Northeast India.

The This year’s championship holds special significance as it coincides with the silver jubilee celebrations of the SSBBA and the commemoration of 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood. Organizers said the event will not only showcase the region’s top bodybuilding and physique athletes but also promote fitness, youth empowerment, and social awareness.

The competition will feature several categories, including Mr. Sikkim, Men’s Physique, Women’s Physique, Open Denim Jeans, and Sports Model, providing a platform for athletes from different backgrounds and disciplines to demonstrate their talent and dedication.

According to the organizers, the championship will offer prizes worth approximately ₹20–25 lakh, making it the largest prize pool in the history of bodybuilding competitions in the Northeast. The overall Mr. Sikkim champion will receive a Royal Enfield Classic 350 motorcycle along with a gold chain, while winners of the Men’s Physique and Women’s Physique categories will be awarded a Royal Enfield motorcycle and a scooty, respectively, in addition to gold chains and cash prizes.

Beyond the sporting competition, the event aims to promote a strong social message in support of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang’s vision of a “Nasha Mukt Sikkim” (Drug-Free Sikkim). As part of this initiative, the SSBBA has pledged to donate gym equipment free of cost to three rehabilitation centres in the state, encouraging physical fitness and healthy lifestyles among recovering youth.

The championship has received support from several prominent leaders and community figures, including Lakpa Moktan, President of the All Sikkim Youth Association, and Phurba Rinzing Sherpa, Health Chairman, along with members of the business community.

Organizers expect a large turnout of athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and spectators from across the region. They believe the event will serve as both a major sporting spectacle and a platform for promoting health, discipline, and positive social change among the youth of Sikkim.

With record prize money, diverse competition categories, and a strong anti-drug message, the championship is expected to be one of the most significant bodybuilding events ever held in the state.
