Guwahati, Aug 5, 2025: In a move to enhance pedestrian safety and convenience, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is constructing five new foot overbridges equipped with escalators along the Guwahati Bypass of NH27.
The overbridges will be located at key junctions:
• Jalukbari (near Assam Engineering College)
• Tetelia
• Gorchuk (near CPWD Office)
• Royal Global University Point
• Lalmati (near Games Village)
The initiative aims to facilitate safe crossings for pedestrians, particularly students, in busy traffic zones.
In addition, the entire 18 km stretch of the Guwahati Bypass will be fitted with streetlights to improve night-time visibility and reduce accident risks.
Officials stated that these measures will significantly improve safety for both pedestrians and motorists.
